Dinwiddie County, Virginia

Dinwiddie County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 24,533 inhabitants and a population density of 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dinwiddie.

Geography

Dinwiddie County is located in the central southeastern part of Virginia, is located in the south about 60 miles from North Carolina and has an area of ​​1313 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Chesterfield County, Prince George County, Sussex County, Greenville County, Brunswick County, Nottoway County and Amelia County.

History

Made it was from parts of Prince George's County on 1 May 1752. It was named for Robert Dinwiddie, a vice governor. Towards the end of the American Civil War, the Battle of Five Forks was held here on April 1, 1865.
