King and Queen County, Virginia

King and Queen County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 6630 inhabitants and a population density of 8 persons per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is King and Queen Court House.

Geography

King and Queen County is located in northeastern Virginia on the middle peninsula, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, and has an area of 845 square kilometers, of which 26 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Essex County, Middlesex County, Gloucester County, James City County, New Kent County, King William County and Caroline County.

History

Made it in 1691 from parts of New Kent County. It was named after King William III. of England and Mary II of England.
