Spotsylvania County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 90 395 inhabitants and a population density of 87 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Spotsylvania Courthouse.

Geography

Spotsylvania County is located in the central north east of Virginia and has an area of ​​1068 square kilometers, of which 30 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stafford County, Caroline County, Hanover County, Louisa County, Orange County and Culpeper County.

History

Made it was built in 1721 from parts of Essex County, King and Queen County and King William County. It was named after Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood.
