New Kent County, Virginia

New Kent County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 13,462 inhabitants and a population density of 25 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is New Kent.

Geography

New Kent County is located in east-central Virginia and has an area of 579 square kilometers, of which 36 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: King William County, King and Queen County, James City County, Charles City County, Henrico County, and Hanover County.

History

Made it was in 1654 from parts of York County and James City County. It was named after Kent, England.
