Middlesex County (Virginia)

Middlesex County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 9932 inhabitants and a population density of 29 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Saluda.


Middlesex County is located in Eastern Virginia and has an area of 546 square kilometers, of which 208 square kilometers are water surface. In the north of the border is formed by the Rappahannock River and the east by the Chesapeake Bay. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Mathews County, Gloucester County, King and Queen County and Essex County.


Made it in 1669 from parts of Lancaster County. The only recorded town, Urbanna, was founded in 1680 and served mainly as a harbor for agricultural products to ship by sea.
