Northumberland County (Virginia)

Northumberland County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 12,259 inhabitants and a population density of 25 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Heathsville.

Geography

Northumberland County is located in Eastern Virginia, bounded on the north and east by the Chesapeake Bay and has an area of 740 square kilometers, of which 242 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Lancaster County, Richmond County and Westmoreland County.
