Craig County (Virginia)

Craig County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 5091 inhabitants and a population density of 6 people per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is New Castle. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

Craig County is located in western Virginia, adjacent to West Virginia and has an area of 856 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Alleghany County, Botetourt County, Roanoke County, Montgomery County and Giles County.

Made it in 1851 from parts of Botetourt County, Giles County and Roanoke County.
