Fauquier County, Virginia
Fauquier County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 55 139 inhabitants and a population density of 33 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Warrenton.
Fauquier County is located north-northeast of the geographic center of Virginia, is in the north and east, both located 35 km away from Maryland and covers an area of 1687 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford County, Culpeper County, Rappahannock County, Warren County and Clarke County.
Made it was in 1759 from parts of Prince William County. It was named after Francis Fauquier, a Lieutenant Governor of Virginia at that time.
According to the census of 2000, lived in Fauquier County 55 139 people in 19,842 households and 15,139 families. The population density was 33 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 88.39 percent White, 8.79 percent African American, 0.26 percent Native American, 0.59 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.60 percent from other races groups; 1.33 percent were descended from two or more races. 2.02 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 19,842 households out of which 36.1 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 63.8 percent were married couples living together, 8.6 percent were single mothers, 23.7 percent were non-families, 18.7 percent of all households and 6.2 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.14.
Based on the county the population was spread from 26.8 percent population under 18 years, 6.4 percent between 18 and 24 years, 30.3 percent between 25 and 44 years, 26.0 percent between 45 and 64 years and 10.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 61,999, and the median income for a family was $ 69,507. Males have a median income of $ 45,484, women $ 31,738. The per capita income was $ 28,757. 3.7 percent of families and 5.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 4.7 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years old and 8.7 percent are 65 years old.
