Clarke County (Virginia)

Clarke County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 12,652 inhabitants and a population density of 28 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Berryville.

Geography

Clarke County is located almost in the extreme north of Virginia, adjacent to West Virginia and has an area of 462 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Loudoun County, Fauquier County, Warren County and Frederick County.

History

Made it was from parts of Frederick County on March 8, 1836. It was named after the researcher and General George Rogers Clark.
