Scott County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 23,403 inhabitants and a population density of 17 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Gate City. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

Scott County is located almost in the extreme southwest of Virginia, on the south by Tennessee, is located in the northwest about 20 miles from Kentucky and has an area of ​​1395 square kilometers, of which five square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Russell County, Washington County, Lee County and Wise County.
