Shenandoah County, Virginia

Shenandoah County is a county located in the U.S. state of Virginia in the United States. In 2000, the County had 35 075 inhabitants and a population density of 26 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Woodstock.

Geography

Shenandoah County is located in Northern Virginia, is bordered to the northwest by West Virginia and has an area of ​​1327 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Frederick County, Warren County, Page County and Rockingham County.

History

Made it in 1772 from parts of Dunmore County ( no longer exists ). It was named after the Senedos, an Indian tribe. During the American Civil War, the Battle of New Market took place here on 15 May 1864.
