King George County, Virginia

King George County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 16,803 inhabitants and a population density of 36 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is King George.

Geography

King George County is located in northeastern Virginia, bordering Maryland and has an area of 486 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the County Westmoreland County, Essex County, Caroline County and Stafford County.

History

Made it was built in 1721 from parts of Richmond County and Westmoreland County. It was named after George I, King of Great Britain and Ireland. He was the first British monarch of the House of Hanover spoke very little English but his native language German.
