Fluvanna County, Virginia

Fluvanna County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 20,047 inhabitants and a population density of 27 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Palmyra.

Geography

Fluvanna County is located just north-east of the geographic center of Virginia and has an area of 752 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Louisa County, Goochland County, Cunmberland County, Buckingham County and Albemarle County.

History

Made it was in 1777 from parts of Albemarle County. It was named after the Fluvanna River. During the American Civil War, about 1,200 men fought from the County on the part of the Confederate States of America.
