Bibb County (Alabama)

Bibb County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Centreville. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located just north-west of the geographic center of Alabama has an area of ​​1822 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Jefferson County, Shelby County, Chilton County, Perry County, Hale County and Tuscaloosa County.

History

Bibb County was formed on February 7, 1818 from parts of Monroe County and Montgomery County as Cahawba County. On December 4, 1820 in Bibb County was renamed in honor of the first governor of Alabama, William Wyatt Bibb.
