Autauga County, Alabama

The Autauga County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Prattville.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of Alabama and has an area of 1566 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Chilton County, Elmore County, Montgomery County, Lowndes County and Dallas County. The southern Countygrenze is formed of Alabama River, the western boundary of Mulberry Creek.

Traffic

In the northwestern corner of the county runs in a north -south Interstate 65 more road links are U.S. Highways 31 and 82, and the Alabama State Route 14

History

The Autauga County was established on November 21, 1818 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named after the city was founded by Native Americans Atagi that lay at the mouth of Autauga Creek in the Alabama River. Washington, located next to Atari, was first the county seat. 1830 this was Kingston and 1868 Prattville.

According to the census in 2010 were living in Autauga County 54 571 people in 22,138 households and 15,064 families. The population was divided into 7570 persons ( 13.9 percent) under 10 years, 8580 people ( 15.8 percent ) of between 10 and 19 years, 6237 people ( 11.4 percent ), between 20 and 29 years, 7487 people (13, 7 percent) between 30 and 39 years, 8418 people ( 15.4 percent ) between 40 and 49 years, 9733 people ( 17.8 percent ) aged 50 to 64 years, 6546 people ( 12.0 percent ) were 65 years and older. The average age was 37.0 years. In County lived 26 567 ( 48.7 per cent) males with a mean age of 35.9 years and 28 002 females ( 51.3 percent) with a mean age of 37.9 years.

Of the 22,138 households out of which 31.8 per cent of children or young people who lived with them. 56.2 percent were married couples living together, 7.3 percent were single mothers and 25.5 percent were non-families. 22.0 percent of all households and 8.0 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.13 persons.

The racial the population was composed of 78.5 percent white, 17.7 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.9 percent Asian, 0.1 percent Hawaiians and residents from the Pacific Islander and 2.4 percent from other ethnic groups.

The median income for a household in the (all figures inflation- adjusted) $ 53,255, and the median income for a family was $ 64,271. The per capita income was $ 24,568. 7.5 percent of families and 10.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2010, the County 4,067 companies, of which 15.2 percent were operated by African Americans, 0.0 percent of Native American, 1.3 percent of people of Asian descent, 0.0 percent of Hawaiians or residents of the Pacific Islander, 0, 7 percent of people are Hispanic or Latino of any race and 31.7 percent were operated by women.
