Edwin Kneedler

Edwin S. Kneedler ( born January 4, 1946) is an American lawyer and former United States Solicitor General.

Biography

After schooling, he studied economics at Lehigh University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science (BS Economics) from. He then completed a post -graduate degree in law at the School of Law of the University of Virginia and completed this in 1974. After a year as a clerk ( Clerk ) by James R. Browning, a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals based in San Francisco, received in 1975 he admitted as a lawyer in Oregon.

In 1975 he entered the service of the Ministry of Justice of the United States, where he was initially an employee in the Office of Legal Services (Office of Legal Counsel ), before he became general in 1979 employees in the Solicitor 's office. Between 1993 and 2009 he finally was Deputy Solicitor General ( Deputy Solicitor General ) and as such, after the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama Tee Shirts by January to March 2009 -Office of the Solicitor General ( Acting Solicitor General ) before Elena Kagan took over the post.
