Elixhausen

Elixhausen is an Austrian municipality in the province of Salzburg. With an area of 8.36 km ², the municipality is one of the smaller area municipalities in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung. Located close to the city of Salzburg and the many green spaces, the community has grown significantly over the last decades due to immigration. In Elixhausen live 2854 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). Economically plays Elixhausen in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung a subordinate role. The community is economically dependent primarily on the city of Salzburg and surrounding communities such as mountain home. In 2006, a part of the cycling world championships was led through the town center.

Geography

Location

Elixhausen is Flachgau, about 10 kilometers northeast of the city of Salzburg. It borders the municipalities of Mountain Home, Anthering, Neumarkt and Hallwang. The 5 districts of the municipality are originating, Moosham, Saxony home, Auberg and Katzmoos.

Origin

Origin is the northernmost district of Ellixhausen. In origin, the higher the agricultural and forestry school of origin ( HLFS ) is located. A transport connection is in the form of the post bus line 120 to a stop ( " HLFS origin " ) available.

History

The place name Elixhausen ( Ebidechsumhusa - house of the Abbess ) is first mentioned in a deed Nonnberg around the year 1000. On the occasion of a freight exchange between the Archbishop Hartwig and the members of the Benedictine pin Nonnberg the place is called House of the abbess. Most farmers were under the lordship of the pen.

In 1122 the estate of origin was first mentioned. It was one of those days with over 100 hectares of the largest landowners in the northern Flachgau. No origin lived in Elixhausen in 1151 141 people in 27 houses. In origin at that time there were 19 houses with 102 people. Since 1168/1175 the municipality has its own church. 1334 Name Edexhausen was enshrined and developed from Elexhausen the present name.

1891 the place of the Catholic parish was charged. Today, the Roman Catholic parish comprises about 1,900 people. Founded by Transylvanian Saxons Protestant community Saxony home has about 500 members.

In the municipal council is the Austrian People's Party with 12 seats, and 62 % of the votes, the most votes party. In second place with five seats and 26.5 % of the vote is the Social Democratic Party of Austria. The third strongest party of the municipality is the Austrian Freedom Party with 11.5%. In the election of the municipal council in the 1 March 2009 1731 votes were cast by voters in 2250. Of these, 63 were considered invalid. In the remaining 1668 valid votes were cast in 1034 (62.5 %) to the ÖVP, 442 (26.5% ) on the SPÖ and 192 ( 11.5 %) to the FPÖ. As part of the state assembly and council elections and the mayoral election was held, which confirmed Markus Kurcz of the ÖVP with 1310 votes ( 80.57 %) in office. Second place went to Franz Samhaber with 316 votes ( 19.43% ).

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

  • Railway: Elixhausen has Hallwang a joint railway station of western railway, the railway station is about 3 km away.
  • Bus: The local bus line 120 (Salzburg - Mattsee ) leads directly through Elixhausen. Driving time from and to the city of Salzburg about 20 minutes. Since October of 2010, it is possible for students of the HTL Itzling to use the newly created Schülerbus.

  • Akzo Nobel Coatings GmbH is one of the largest companies in Elixhausen. The core business of the company is focused on industrial paints / coatings and architectural finishes.

Education

Since 1939 there have been for some years a kindergarten, which was performed in the so-called Mesner farmhouse. After 33 years, a temporary nursery school was re-established under Mayor George Kubler. In September 1972, the kindergarten was built in the former premises of the Polytechnic training course in elementary school. Since 1984, the nursery was extended to three groups. In 1991 the nursery moved to its current location in the proximity of the town center in the sub Grub Street.
