Elleben

The community Elleben located in Ilm-Kreis, about 15 km south of Erfurt and 10 km east of Arnstadt. The municipality consists of the villages Riechheim and Gügleben. In the area of the district Riechheim the Riechheimer mountain located (513 m above sea level. NN ), the namesake of the administrative community Riechheimer mountain is. Elleben part of this management group with headquarters in Kirchheim.

Geography

The community Elleben lies in the southern part of the Thuringian Basin on the western slope of the mountain Riechheimer, the transition to the conservation area Middle Ilm Valley. The area is dominated by agriculture.

With a population increase of almost 100 % in the last 10 years Elleben is the fastest growing municipality in the Ilm -Kreis. The increase in population is reflected solely in the district Riechheim. There, a new residential area was developed, which attracted many people from the 15 km distant city of Erfurt. In Riechheim the population of about 150 rose to about 600, so the town is now both the largest district of the municipality and to Kirchheim second largest city of the administrative community Riechheimer mountain.

Culture and sights

In Elleben particularly the baroque village church from 1729 is worth seeing. A triptych by Valentin lumbar prank of 1498 and the twelve apostles figures decorate this house of God. The first interior renovation has been handed down from the year 1884. The moon stained glass windows from 1436, a circular ornate stained-glass windows, is still the main attraction.

The still existing Male Choir was founded in 1746 and grew out of the initiative of the evangelical church choir.

The Evangelical-Lutheran parish belongs to the parish Elxleben.

Traffic

Elleben has a rail connection and on the territory of the municipality there is no highway. The nearest motorway junctions are Erfurt Erfurt West and East of the A4 and the A71 motorway south Arnstadt. The nearest railway stations are located in Erfurt, Arnstadt and crane field.
