Emma Carney

Emma Elizabeth Carney ( born July 29, 1971) is a former Australian triathlete and two-time Triathlon World Champion (1994 and 1997).

Career

Emma Carney was born in England, but her parents then moved quickly to Australia. In her youth she was active in running and 1994, the 23 -year-old and until then almost unknown Emma Carney was at her first international triathlon start World Champion on the short distance.

In 2004, she announced her resignation due to health problems and she has since been active as a trainer and triathlon coach.

She was inducted into the Australian Triathlon Hall of Fame in April 2012 along with Loretta Harrop and Jackie Gallagher.
