Emotions is a song by American singer Mariah Carey. It was written by Mariah Carey and produced by her and the C C Music Factory. The song appeared on Carey's eponymous album (1991). It was released in the third quarter of 1991 as the first single of the album. In the disco -influenced song, the protagonist shows a variety of emotions, good mood to bad mood, up to the point where she sings " you got me feeling emotions" - after Carey sings only high tones and experimented with their singing techniques for which it is known.

Background

Carey worked with C C Music Factory, they composed the song You're So Cold, which Carey should publish as the first single. However, a second recording session Carey led to the belief that emotion is a better choice for the first single. So Emotions was finally released as the first single.

Composition

Emotions is a disco - influenced pop tracks. Carey's vocal range extends the song about four octaves from C3 to E7. The song is the first in which Carey extensive experimenting with her vocal range, Melis amount Sang and her whistle register.

The director for music video led Jeff Preiss. The music video shows Mariah Carey with her friends, celebrate together on the streets in New York City.

Success

Emotions was in the United States Mariah Carey's fifth number -one hit in succession, so that she became the far Lone ever accomplished the feat that all first five singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits are ( they broke so that the record of the the Jackson 5). From 6 October to 26 October 1991, the song spent three weeks at No. 1 The song sparked Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch feat.
