The Escher- Wyss- quarters is drawn through a large space, the turbine space. Previously this function had the Escher -Wyss-Platz, where the 1972-2009 distinctive fountain « Sirius » by Annemie Fontana was in the middle. An abort is required by the population and neighborhood politicians repeatedly, which at least in the short term can not be realized. A little west of the Escher -Wyss-Platz is the hardware bridge train station, which connects the neighborhood to the S -Bahn Zurich. Important local modes are the tram lines 4 and 13, which run from Central Station Coming (takes about six minutes) in the outer quarters Grunau ( Altstetten ) and Hoengg. The Hard on the bridge trains running trolleybus lines 33 and 72 establish connections with the hardware and after Wipkingen.

In the neighborhood, the building of Swisscom, the Technopark and the KV Zurich Business School can be found. Other witnesses of the industrial age are the areas Steinfels, Maag, Sulzer -Escher Wyss, Lowenbrau Zurich, as well as the sound - dairy. The areas in question have already been exploited, or are to be redeveloped in the process have, however, often the old, carefully renovated buildings on. Among the more active areas are in use can be found, Swissmill (City Mill), the VBZ Tram Depot hardware, the Migros Distribution Herder ( headquarters of the cooperative Migros Zurich and until 1980 the seat of the Migros Cooperative Association ).
