FitzGerald dynasty

Fitzgerald ( or in traditional notation FitzGerald, Irish Mac Gearailt ) is a patronymic formed Irish surname meaning " son of Gerald ". The suffix " Fitz " is derived from the Norman / French felt / fiz, which derives itself from the Latin filius 'son'. It corresponds to the Norse but in the Norman tradition. He was added to the last name of the Lord families of Norman descent and then illegitimate sons of England.
