John F. Fitzgerald

John Francis "Honey Fitz " Fitzgerald ( born February 11, 1863 in Boston, Massachusetts, † October 2, 1950 ibid ) was an American politician. The former mayor of Boston and Members of the House of Representatives was the grandfather of John F. Kennedy.

Political career

Fitzgerald began his political career in 1892 with his election to the Senate from Massachusetts. From 1895 to 1901 he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the state of Massachusetts. From 1906 to 1908 and again from 1910 to 1914 he was mayor of Boston.

Having to October 1919 was again a member of Congress of March, he failed in other elections, including the election for governor of Massachusetts in 1922. Subsequently he cared for as a consultant to his descendants the Kennedy Fitzgerald dynasty. The two families were connected with the son of Patrick Joseph Kennedy since the wedding Fitzgerald's eldest daughter Rose and were considered politically very influential.

Trivia

Upon his election to Congress in 1948 John F. Fitzgerald was responsible for the successful election campaign of John F. Kennedy. After his election as President of the United States christened the yacht of the President in honor of his grandfather on the name Honey Fitz.
