John A. Keliher

John Austin Keliher ( born November 6, 1866 in Boston, Massachusetts, † September 20, 1938 ) was an American politician. Between 1903 and 1911 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Keliher attended the common schools and worked in Boston in the real estate industry. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. In 1896 and 1897 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Massachusetts; 1899 to 1900 he was a member of the State Senate. In the congressional elections of 1902 he was in the ninth election district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joseph A. Conry on March 4, 1903. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1911 four legislative sessions. In 1910 he was not re-elected.

Between 1915 and 1916 acted Keliher as chairman of the Massachusetts State House Building Commission. From 1917 to 1919 he was also a member of a commission to revise the State Constitution. Since 1917 until his death was Keliher sheriff in Suffolk County. He died on September 20, 1938 in Boston.
