Leonard White (politician)

Leonard White ( May 3, 1767 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, † October 10, 1849 ) was an American politician. Between 1811 and 1813, he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Leonard White studied until 1787 at Harvard University. Subsequently he held in his home several local offices. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party. In 1809 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Massachusetts. In the congressional elections of 1810 White was DC - elected in the third electoral district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of Edward St. Loe Livermore on March 4, 1811. Until March 3, 1813, he was able to complete a term in Congress. In this time of the beginning of the British -American War of 1812 fell.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, White worked as a municipal employee ( Town Clerk ) in his hometown of Haverhill. He also was employed 1814-1836 at the Merrimack Bank of Haverhill. He died on October 10, 1849 in Haverhill.
