Henry F. Naphen

Henry Francis Naphen ( born August 14, 1852 in Ireland, † June 8, 1905 in Boston, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth came Henry Naphen with his parents from his Irish home to Lowell in Massachusetts. There he attended the public schools. At times, he has also taught privately. Then he studied until 1878 at Harvard University. After a subsequent law studies at the School of Law at Boston University and his 1880 was admitted to the bar he began to work in Boston in this profession. Between 1882 and 1885 he was a member of the School Committee of Boston. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In 1885 and 1886 he sat in the Senate from Massachusetts.

In the congressional elections of 1898 Naphen in the tenth constituency of Massachusetts was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Samuel J. Barrows on March 4, 1899. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1903 two legislative sessions. In 1902 he gave up another candidacy. Naphen Henry died on June 8, 1905 in Boston, where he was also buried.
