Flag of San Marino

The flag of San Marino was drafted at the end of the 18th century, and officially charged on April 6, 1862 the national flag.

Description

The flag of San Marino consists of two equal horizontal stripes: white top and light blue below. The blue represents the sky, the white of the clouds and the snow on Monte Titano in the winter. The colors appear for the first time in 1797, the cockade of San Marino. The flag was probably made in the same time. To date, there is no law that regulates the appearance and use accurately.

On the national flag, the coat of arms sanmarinesische is shown in the center of the flag. It shows a shield with three towers on three hills, surrounded by a wreath of leaves. In a crown and below a scroll is written on the LIBERTAS (Latin for Liberty).

Municipality flags

The communities use the blue and white flag with their own coat of arms.
