Franklin F. Korell

Franklin Frederick Korell ( born July 23, 1889 in Portland, Oregon, † June 7, 1965 in Alexandria, Virginia ) was an American politician. Between 1927 and 1931 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Oregon in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Korell Franklin attended the public schools of his home and then the Bishop Scott Academy in Portland. After studying law, he began at the University of Oregon in 1912 and ended at the Law School of Harvard University, he began in Portland to work as a lawyer. During the First World War, he was from 1917 to 1919 a lieutenant in the infantry. He then worked again as a lawyer.

Politically Korell was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1923 and 1925 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Oregon. After the death of Congressman Maurice E. Crumpacker he was elected in the by-election due to his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives. Korell joined his new mandate in Washington on 18 October 1927. After winning the regular elections of the year 1928 in his constituency, he could remain until March 3, 1931 Congress. But in 1930 he lost to Democrat Charles Martin.

Between 1931 and 1943 he worked for the consultant staff of the U.S. Treasury in connection to 1959 for the tax authorities. Then he retreated to retire to Alexandria in Virginia, where he had since moved. Korell Franklin died in 1965 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He was married to Caroline Stoddard since 1932.
