Robert Freeman Smith

Robert Freeman "Bob" Smith ( born June 16, 1931 in Portland, Oregon ) is a former American politician. Between 1983 and 1995, and from 1997 to 1999, he was the second electoral district of the state of Oregon in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Bob Smith attended the public schools in Burns. Then he studied until 1953 at the Willamette University in Salem agriculture. After his studies he worked as a rancher.

Smith was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1960 and 1972 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Oregon; Since 1969 he was president of the house. At the same time he was 1965-1969 Chairman of the Commission for the management of state land in Oregon. In 1980 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention, on the Ronald Reagan was nominated as presidential candidate of the party.

1982 Smith was elected in the second district of Oregon in the U.S. House of Representatives.
