George Augustus La Dow

George Augustus La Dow ( born March 18, 1826 in Syracuse, New York, † May 1, 1875 in Pendleton, Oregon ) was an American politician. He was in 1874 elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, but died before he could officially take up his deputies activity.

Career

George La Dow was still a child in the McHenry County in Illinois. There he attended the public schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1850 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Waupaca (Wisconsin ) to work in his new profession. From 1860 to 1862 he was district attorney in Waupaca County. In 1862, La Dow moved to Wilton in present-day Minnesota. There he continued his legal practice. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1868 to 1869 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Minnesota. In 1869 he moved to Pendleton in the state of Oregon, where he has also worked as a lawyer.

From 1872 to 1874 La Dow was a member of the House of Representatives from Oregon. In 1874 he was elected by a margin of only 302 votes against the Republican Richard Williams in the U.S. House of Representatives. Even before the new Congress, the official legislative session began on March 4, 1875 constituted, died George La Dow on 1 May of the same year.
