Frans Beelaerts van Blokland

Jonkheer Frans van Blokland Beelaerts ( born January 21, 1872 in The Hague, † March 27, 1956 ibid ), Vrijheer van Blokland, was a Dutch politician and diplomat.

Beelaerts van Blokland was the son of the politician yrs. Gerard Jacob Theodoor van Blokland Beelaerts. He studied law at Leiden University, where he met his two friends living Andries Cornelis Dirk de Graeff and Johan Paul van Limburg Stirum. After studying Beelaerts van Blokland represented the Dutch embassy in China. In 1923 he was Formateur, but this had no effect. In 1927 he became foreign minister. As of 1933 fulfilled Beelaerts van Blokland the Vice Presidency of the Council of State, a function he held for 23 years. In 1940 he went with Queen Wilhelmina into exile in London, where he was its most important council man. Beelaerts van Blokland had to be spoken to a feudal dealing with his subordinates and demanded it in the Council of State and President.
