George Hodgson

George Hodgson ( born October 12, 1893 in Montreal, † May 1, 1983 ) was a Canadian swimmer.

He won the gold medal in both the 400m and 1500m freestyle at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912. He was so until his death the only Canadians, the Olympic champion in swimming was, then 1984 could win with Alex Baumann and Victor Davis two Canadians. In his three years of active time as a swimmer he remained undefeated. This is also due to the fact that he swam a private swimming style.

In 1968 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
