Götene Municipality
Götene is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish county of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland and is located on the eastern shore of Lake Vänern. Capital is the place Götene. Other towns are Forshem, Hällekis, Husaby Källby, Kinne - Kleva, Kinne - Vedum, Lundsbrunn, Årnäs and other small villages.
Geography
The community Götene extends approximately 30 km along the eastern shore of Lake Vänern, between the municipalities in the north of Mariestad and Lidköping in the south.
Parallel to the lake shore, which runs the board Kinnekulle, which lies between the sea and a fertile plain in the interior. On Kinnekulle there are several quarries that have been shut down partially today. The area of Kinnekulle is old culture area with a number of testimonies mainly from the Middle Ages, such as the Church of Husaby where the first Swedish king was baptized, and the Forshem.

The municipality is located in a Götene intensively farmed area. The industry, which employs 45 % of the workforce is well represented. Tourism is particularly in the area of Kinnekulle important.
Personalities
- Kenneth Hansen, Car athlete and 14-time FIA European Rallycross champion, comes from Götene and lives in Kinne - Vedum. His home track is Kinnekulle ring at Götene, a racetrack for various motor sports, which also has a Rallycross car. In addition to many rounds of the Swedish Rallycross Championship in 1992 and 1996 a scoring run to FIA European Rallycross there were held.
- Susann Hansen, born Bergvall, wife of Kenneth, a former car athlete and winner of the ERA 1400 Cup in 1994, a time not yet officially recognized by the FIA RX Championship for junior riders.
- Timmy Hansen, son of Kenneth and Susann, successful karting ( Swedish Champion 2008) and Formula racing racer, currently active for the German Team Mücke Motorsport in the Formula BMW Europe series.
