Grasleben

Grasleben is a municipality in the district of Helmstedt in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). The church is a member congregation of the Grasleben Samtgemeinde Grasleben.

Geography

The community is located 13 kilometers north Grasleben the county town of Helmstedt in the Natural Park Elm Lappwald. The eastern boundary of the municipality to the city Oebisfelde - Weferlingen is also the county boundary to the district Borde and border with Saxony -Anhalt. Economy and infrastructure

Economy

Up to the 1990s, the Allerthal -Werke AG in Grasleben produced rubber goods. Later, the company headquarters was moved to Cologne. In Grasleben the active rock salt mine Brunswick- Lüneburg is the company esco for the production of food, thawing and industrial salts.

In 2006, a biogas plant was built in the immediate vicinity of the mine. The esco work is purchaser of the heat generated by the installation. Currently, there are considerations for further biogas plants to supply more companies, large institutions or even residential areas with the generated heat.
