Griesstätt is located on the Inn River community in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim. The place was first mentioned in a charter of Duke Arnulf I of Bavaria in the year 924, the so-called " Rhini certificate ".

Geographical Location

Griesstätt lies to the east of the Inn about 19 ​​km north of Rosenheim, 8 km south of Wasserburg am Inn, 22 km north-west of Prien am Chiemsee, 26 km east of Ebersberg and 54 km from the state capital of Munich.

History

The name Griesstätt is first mentioned in 924 in a document of Duke Arnulf of Bavaria. Since 1667 until the secularization in 1803 the Hofmark Griesstätt belonged to the monastery Altenhohenau. Griesstätt in 1818 in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, an independent political community. In the municipal reform in 1978 Griesstätt the administrative community Rott am Inn was incorporated. Since 1 January 1986 the municipality Griesstätt is completely independent again.

Culture and sights

The Museums include the abbey church Altenhohenau with the numerous churches in and around Griesstätt. At the cemetery, the church is the final resting place of the swing trumpeter Charly Tabor.

Regular events

The Tubafest is organized annually by the end of May Griesstätter brass music.

The Trachtenverein Griesstätt invites every year on Easter Sunday, one to his traditional Easter dance. He also directed mid-June from a garden party. The Trachtenfest year will be a year with the church festival on the third Sunday in October and the following Monday.
