Gyula Pálóczi

Gyula Pálóczi (* September 13, 1962, † 28 January 2009) was a Hungarian long and triple jumpers.

He began his career as a long jumper and won silver in this discipline at the Indoor Athletics Championships 1983 in Budapest. In the same year he left in qualifying at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki.

In 1985 he won silver at the IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris and won the narrowest of margins at the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus. Like his compatriot László Szalma he had scored 8.15 m, so that the second best jump was the decisive factor in favor of Pálóczi. At the 1988 European Indoor Championships in Budapest, he was seventh.

After moving to the triple jump, he qualified for the World Championships in Stuttgart in 1993, but failed in the first round.

Three times he was Hungarian Champion in the long jump (1984, 1986, 1990) and five times in the triple jump (1988-1990, 1993, 1994). In the hall he took in 1985 the national title in the long jump and 1989 and 1990 in the triple jump.
