Geography
The community lies in the Westerwald between Montabaur and Hachenburg.

History
Hahn am See, which has already been mentioned for the first time in 1374 as Hane, located on one of Germany's oldest streets. The "high road ", today's B 8, it can be shown back to pre-Christian peoples hike. As in 1870, there was a great lack of water, a tube well was built to supply the population at that time, which was fed by a natural spring. The old fountain column has remained preserved and continue to donate their cool wet.
On 1 May 1980, the community of "Cock in Wallmerod " was renamed " Hahn am See ".

The local council in Hahn am See is composed of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: " Late Gothic Buckler, over blue Wellenschildfuß in silver a continuous red cross, topped with a golden shamrock cross bar, the bottom of the cross foot quoting diagonal right and diagonal left two green ears of corn ."
Community partnership
There is a cooperative friendship with the French town of Le Verger, which is maintained by the one conveyance.

The town center is dominated by the more than 100 year old linden tree and the Grade II Listed, built in 1726 in Baroque style church.
