Wallmerod (Verbandsgemeinde)

The community association Wallmerod is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. The municipality consists of 21 independent local churches. The head office is located in the eponymous municipality Wallmerod.

History
The community association Wallmerod was re-formed on March 1, 1972 from 15 local congregations of Oberwesterwald circle and five local churches of Unterwesterwald circle and therefore acted initially on the territory of two counties, which has only changed when in 1974 the Westerwald district arose anew. The place Wallmerod was chosen as the county seat because he already had a tradition of being the seat of a local court.
The community Hundsangen wanted 1970 change due to the strong bonds in the Limburg - Hadamar to the neighboring state of Hesse, but this failed in January 1972, the non- issuance of the appropriate authorization from Rheinland -Pfalz, because they feared a knock-on effect for other areas.
The communities Elbingen and Moravia (Westerwald ), which still formed the community Elbingen Moravia in the formation of community association Wallmerod, were independent communities again on 1 January 1994. Both communities remained in the municipality.

Economy
