Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the Donau-Wald at the Cold Moldova in the Bavarian Forest, right on the border with the Czech Republic at the Crystal Road. Haidmuehle is located 25 km from Freyung, 24 km from Forest churches and 20 km from the border with Austria.

A few meters away from the village is the border crossing Nové Údolí ( Neuthal ) to Stožec ( Tusset ), which is open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Here ends right at the border crossing on the Czech side of the former railway line Passau Prachatice ( Prachatitz ), which is now traversed by regional trains to Volary ( Wallern ).

Part of the route is as a museum railway ( pošumavská jižní dráha ) in operation.

History

The village in the former Bishopric of Passau was secularized in 1803 with the majority of the high pin and the territory in favor of Ferdinand of Tuscany and fell until 1805 with the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. Since 1946, belonged to the former glassworks settlement Schwarzenthal to the municipality Bischofsreut who came to Haidmuehle 1978.

On April 27, 1951, the church name was officially changed to Fraunberg Haidmuehle.

Incorporations

  • Young List - Bischofsreut / Haidmuehle: 3 seats ( 23.0 % of the vote )

Mayor

Mayor Fritz Gibis ( CSU / CDU Community), who was elected at the municipal election in 2008 unopposed with 87.16 % of the valid votes.

Finances

The municipal tax revenue in 1999 amounted to the equivalent of € 450,000; it amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 47,000.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

There were 1998 in the field of agriculture and forestry none, in the manufacturing sector and 67 in the area of ​​trade and transport any social insurance contributions at the workplace. Traffic

The train station of Haidmuehle was tied to the railroad from Passau to Ceske Budejovice ( Austria - Hungary) before the First World War. From Passau the Royal Bavarian State Railways on forest churches went to Haidmuehle; from Haidmuehle it went on with the Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways on Neuthal and Wallern towards Ceske Budejovice. Ended in 1945 the cross-border traffic. By 1963, still drove people trains to Forest churches; the freight was finally decommissioned in 1975 above Jandelsbrunn. Today the route is broken. On a section of the route is the sewage treatment plant of Haidmuehle.
