Henry Vere Huntley

Sir Henry Vere Huntley (* 1795 in Gloucestershire, † May 7, 1864 in Santos, Brazil) was born in 1795 as the third son of the Rev. Richard Huntley in Gloucestershire, UK. He joined the navy in 1809 and in 1839 to lieutenant governor of the colony Gambia, which was at that time as British West Africa from Freetown (Sierra Leone) from guided appointed. Knighted and Sir he was in the year 1841. November 13, 1841, he was the ninth Governor of Prince Edward Iceland, an office which he held until November 1, 1847. He died on 7 May 1864 in Santos, Brazil.
