Benjamin Rogers (Lieutenant Governor)

Benjamin Rogers ( born August 7, 1837 in Bedeque, Prince Edward Iceland, † May 16, 1923 ) was a Canadian politician. From 1910 to 1915 he was vice- governor of the province of Prince Edward Iceland.

Rogers, son of Welsh immigrant, was working as export traders, besides, he served as a justice of the peace. In 1872 he was a member of the Prince Edward Iceland Liberal Party, elected to the Legislative Council, the upper house of the province. In 1878 he was elected to the Legislative Assembly ( lower house), which he served until 1897. From 1883 to 1886 Rogers was opposition leader. Although he was no longer a deputy, he was a member from 1900 to 1905 the Cabinets of Donald Farquharson and Arthur Peters and served as Agriculture Minister and Treasurer. Governor General Lord Grey sworn Rogers on June 1, 1910 as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Iceland. This representative office he held until June 2, 1915.
