Holice (Pardubice District)

Holice ( German Holitz ) is a city in Okres Pardubice (Czech Republic) between Hradec Králové and Svitavy. The municipality has about seven thousand inhabitants.

History

1336, the village was first mentioned. It belonged to the rule Chvojnov, and was the property of King John of Luxembourg. In the 15th century, people are already talking about a small town, which then burned a short time because of the spread there timber. Remained standing, the town hall, which was destroyed in 1945.

One of the main owners of the city was Naptalim of Frimburg (z Frimburka ), whose father had acquired the town in 1481. Naphtalim freed the inhabitants of taxes and compulsory labor, the magistrates were given complete freedom in their decisions, he gave the city the right to brew and had a bathhouse built.

After his death in 1493 Holice received Hynek Bradlecký of Mečkov that equipped it with other privileges. In 1507 it passed to William II of Pernštejna.
