Huejuquilla el Alto is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Región Norte. The municipality had the Census 2010 8.781 inhabitants; the area of ​​the Municipalities is 771.5 km ².

Greatest place in the municipality and administrative headquarters is the same Huejuquilla el Alto, another place with at least 500 inhabitants exists with Tenzompa. Overall, the municipality includes 62 villages.

The municipality borders on the Huejuquilla el Alto Municipio Mezquitic as well as to the state of Zacatecas.

The municipality has a very uneven orography on with maximum elevations up to about 2200 m above sea level. More than half of the municipal area is forested.
