San Ignacio Cerro Gordo is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Región Sur Altos. The municipality had the Census 2010 17.626 inhabitants; the area of the Municipalities is 228.1 km ². The municipality was created in 2007 by split from the municipality of Arandas.

Greatest place in the municipality and administrative headquarters is the eponymous San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, more cities with more than 500 inhabitants are Los Dolores, La Trinidad and San Vicente. The municipality comprises a total of 74 villages.

The municipality of San Ignacio Cerro Gordo borders the Municipalities Tepatitlán de Morelos, San Miguel el Alto, Atotonilco el Alto and Arandas.

The municipality lies at an average of about 2000 m above sea level. 60 % of the area is used for agriculture.
