Independencia Department, Chaco

The department Independencia is located in the center of Chaco Province in northwestern Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the department of Maipú, on the east by the department of Comandante Fernández, on the south by the Departamento O'Higgins, on the southwest by the Department of General Belgrano and west by the department of Almirante Brown.

The capital of the department Independencia is Campo Largo. It is located 195 km from the provincial capital Resistencia and 1229 km from Buenos Aires.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 20,620 inhabitants (2001) to 20,977 inhabitants in 2005.
