Interstate 55
Interstate 55 (abbreviated I-55 ) is part of the interstate highway network of the United States. Your odd numbering indicates that they generally from north to south (and vice versa) runs. It runs from Laplace (about 40 km west of New Orleans), where it branches off from Interstate 10 to Chicago, where she runs at McCormick Place on U.S. Highway 41 ( Lake Shore Drive ).
The section between Chicago and St. Louis runs parallel to or on the route of the former Route 66
