Jaguar XK

The Jaguar XK is a sports car model of the car manufacturer Jaguar.

Model history

1948, Jaguar at the London Motor Show a new XK 120 sports car mentioned before (XK stand for the engine and 120 for the higher maximum speed in miles). On July 21, 1949, the first XK 120 was delivered. In March 1951, the open two-seater (OTS = Open Two Seater ) a coupe was provided ( FHC = Fixed Head Coupe ) to the side with a fixed roof. In April 1953, the offer was extended to include a coupe with a retractable fabric roof ( DHC = Drophead Coupe ). By the end of production in autumn 1954 12.078 XK 120 ( 7631 OTS, 2678 FHC and DHC 1769 ) were built.

In October 1954, was presented at the London Motor Show as a successor to the XK 140 with a slightly revised bodywork. During the XK 120 front and rear bumper had two petite two bumper horns, got the XK 140 front a massive, continuous bumper and rear two massive bumper. The new grille had fewer but thicker ribs. FHC and DHC had two jump seats behind the seats and became the 2 2- seater. By the end of production early 1957 8.884 copies were built.

In May 1957, the XK has been extensively revised and is now offered as an XK 150. A one-piece panoramic windscreen replaced the two-piece windshield. The body itself was grown in all directions and now also offered a solid rear bumper. For an additional charge for the first time was a Jaguar hood ornament can be ordered. By the end of production 9,395 units were built.

Between 1949 and 1961 caused a total of 30,357 XK sports cars that were available with disc wheels and trim the rear wheel arches ( spats ) or with spoke wheels.

1996 animated Jaguar XK model name again. The internally Jaguar X100 -called sports car was offered as a coupe and convertible with either a naturally aspirated XK as or with a compressor engine as the XKR. He was replaced by a newer model (factory internally Jaguar X150 ) 2005.
