Jerzy Miller (politician)

Jerzy Miller ( born June 7, 1952 in Kraków ) is a Polish politician without party affiliation. From October 2009 to November 2011 he was Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of Donald Tusk.

Life

Miller studied at the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy Krakow ( Akademia Górniczo - Hutnicza ) at the Department of Electronics, electrical and automation engineering. From July 1990 to August 1991 Miller was head of the Department of Organization and revision in the Province Office of the Province of Krakow. In December 1991 he became director of the Voivodeship Office and from January 1993 to January 1998 was Jerzy Miller deputy voivode of the Voivodship Krakow. In February 1998, he was Under-Secretary ( podsekretarz ) in the Polish Ministry of Finance and later became Secretary of State, thus also deputy finance minister, and remained so until July 2000. During this time he was also representative for the decentralization of public finances, the government of Jerzy Buzek. In the years 2001 to 2003, he worked as Advisor to the Board of the National Bank of Poland ( NBP ). In 2003, he was Chairman of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture for three months. 2003 to 2004, Miller was director of the department of public communication ( Departament Komunikacji Społecznej ) and 2004 was also a member of the Board of the National Bank. From 2004 to 2006, Jerzy Miller President of the Polish Health Fund ( Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia, NFZ ). For his removal from the position of head of the health fund the ruling party Prawo i Sprawiedliwość changed ( Law and Justice ), the corresponding law that after the revocation takes by the Prime Minister as previously allowed by the advice of the Health Fund. From December 2006, he was Deputy Mayor of Warsaw. Of 29 November 2007 to 14 October 2009, he was with the support of Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ) Voivode of the Voivodship Lesser Poland. On 14 October 2009 he was Minister of the Interior as the successor of Grzegorz Schetyna. After the 2011 parliamentary elections, he resigned from the government and was re- Voivode of Lesser Poland.

Jerzy Miller is married.
