Jim Gilmore

James Stuart "Jim" Gilmore III (* October 6, 1949 in Richmond, Virginia ) is an American politician ( Republican). From 1994 to 1998 he was Minister of Justice from Virginia. In 1997, he sat down at the election for governor of Virginia, with 56 % of the vote against his Democratic challenger Donald Beyer Jr. by.

Since November 28, 2006 Gilmore was seen as Republican candidate for the U.S. presidential election of 2008. During an interview with ABC News, he expressed his interest in running. On 14 July 2007 he drew the candidacy, however, because he recognized his own words, that the time of his application in April was much too late.

From January 2001 to January 2002 Gilmore the Republican National Committee had directed. His resignation was due to several electoral defeats of Republicans in the U.S. Senate and in various states. On 4 November 2008 he lost to Mark R. Warner 's candidacy for the U.S. Senate.

Jim Gilmore and his wife Roxanne live in Richmond and Alexandria, and have two sons.

Gilmore is a member of the board of the National Rifle Association ( NRA).
