Kasli

Kasli (Russian Касли ) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast (Russia) with 16 969 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the eastern edge of the Southern Urals about 140 km north-west of Chelyabinsk Oblasthauptstadt between the lakes Irtjasch, Bolschije ( Large ) Kasli, Malyje ( Small ) Kasli, Sungul and Kirety.

Kasli is the Oblast administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

The city is connected by a branch line with the 20 km distant station Mauk in 1896 opened railway Yekaterinburg - Chelyabinsk ( only freight).

History

Kasli arose in 1747 in connection with the establishment of ironworks Kaslinski Sawod by the Demidov family of entrepreneurs and received on July 29, 1942 city law.

Culture and sights

In Kasli there is a Historical and Art Museum in which particular products of the iron works are shown, which was famous for its art casting from the mid-19th century.

In the resort, the residence of the mine director from the 18th century, the Hospital of 1780 and various industrial buildings from the 19th century are preserved.

Economy

In Kasli there is a machine factory and a factory for radio electronics.
